Teen Killed After Being Struck on Route 301
Earlier this month, an 18-year-old was killed when he was struck by a passing car on Route 301 near Church Hill. According to one news report covering the tragedy, the accident occurred on Route 301 northbound in the evening hours.
Evidently, the young man was walking in the road at the time of the accident. It is unclear if he was in a crosswalk, on the shoulder, or in the middle of a lane of travel. After the collision, the teen was thrown into the grassy median nearby. Emergency crews loaded the teen into a helicopter that took him to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries the next day.
Police have not yet charged the driver with any traffic or criminal offense, but the accident is under investigation.
