In this particular case, the driver apparently fled the scene of the collision on foot, leaving his car and passengers to wait for police to arrive. According to reports, the Anne Arundel police department was searching for the suspect in Glen Burnie hit-and-run incident that left a female driver sustained serious injuries following a Sunday morning traffic accident.
Based on police reports, the injured woman was a passenger in a 1997 Dodge minivan being driven by a 48-year-old man. The accident happened along a stretch of 8th Ave. in Glen Burnie, MD, not far from the intersection of 8th and Mary Wagner Ln.
News articles indicated that a westbound Acura, reportedly being operated by a man identified by police as Juan Adrien Perez, crossed into eastbound lanes of the roadway hitting the white Dodge Caravan head-on. In the aftermath of the collision, police reports show that Perez, who reportedly lives in the Glen Ridge Community Apartment, exited his vehicle and fled the scene on foot. The suspect allegedly left several other occupants in the damaged vehicle, including an 8-month-old infant.
Based on those police reports, the baby did not appear injured but was transported by emergency responders to Baltimore Washington Medical Center as a precaution. The woman traveling in the minivan was transported to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
At the time of the news reports, police told media outlets that Perez also has used other names, including Jorge Martinez-Perez, Yovani Perez-Zamayoa and Yovani Perez-Zamoxa. Anne Arundel law enforcement authorities described the man as being Hispanic, with short, black hair and last being seen wearing a white, short-sleeve shirt and jeans. Police requested any person having information on the hit-and-run driver to contact the department’s Northern District offices.
